About Us

Our Office M.C. Bruce graduated from Humboldt State University in 1984. He majored in Journalism, winning the Brett Harte Award for the highest grade point average in the department, and was awarded a Magna Cum Laude.

Mr. Bruce then attended U.C. Berkeley's Boalt Hall school of law. During his Boalt Career, he was the research editor of the Industrial Relations Law Journal and a finalist in the McBaine Oral Advocacy competition. As a finalist in the McBaine, he argued in front of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

During his twenty year career, Bruce has worked both public and private law. As an Orange County Public Defender for over 12 years, he handled misdemeanor and felony cases. His time running the Major Frauds calendar won praise from clients, judges and even his opponents for his firm grasp on complex issues and his ability to communicate to a jury difficult concepts. He also worked for a mid-sized Los Angeles law firm, Kindel & Anderson, during which he handled business, securities, and bankruptcy issues.

In the early 90s he practiced law in Canoga Park, California. He won a $400,000 slander verdict against a major L.A. law firm, and once took a case from OJ Simpson attorney Robert Shapiro. Shapiro handed Bruce the misdemeanor, saying "You should get the client to plead guilty. You'll never win this case." The following month, Bruce won a "not guilty" verdict for the client.

In 2006, Bruce became the Supervising Attorney for the Alternate Conflicts Counsel. During that time he won an "unwinnable" felony assault with great bodily injury case which was reported in the local newspapers.

Bruce began his solo practice in August 2007 at the Airport Offices in McKinleyville. He handles criminal matters; family law matters; and business litigation.
